Yeavering | Saffron, Oak & Mead
Yeavering has housed people for millennia, from the Iron Age Votadini to the Anglo-Saxon court of Ad Gefrin. Northumbria was one of the four main Anglo-Saxon kingdoms during the 7th century and was of great importance to the early history of the area. Even the Venerable Bede wrote about Ad Gefrin!
Mood: At the edge of the Cheviot Hills, celebrations echo through a central timber tall, hearty laughs, honey mead and heroic stories spill across rush floors. Later, wildflowers are crushed underfoot as bodies trample over them, eager for their warm beds to alleviate sore heads.
Smells like: Saffron, citrus, rose, geranium, lilac, whisky, honey, oak, cedarwood.
